We're fast approaching our first six months of using cloth and I have to say that I am so looking forward to the next stage of Fizz's cloth bum adventure.

As Fizz fast approaches her 1st Birthday I am, as most Mums do, evaluating our 1st year together and also what I can take on next year.

We intend to stick to cloth our collection of Flips, V3's, V4's and Original Pop Ins - the flips have now taken over as our day nappy where as the others are perfect for night time and do well overnight. The Itti Bitti wet bag was a great find, more expensive than the Original Pop In tote but the zip lock was a welcome addition for our nursery too.

Our nursery always seem to have a weekly compliment for the flip, they seem to much prefer these to the all in one BG's and it is becoming very rare now that Fizz ever comes home in a disposible (only when explosive situations have made it impossible to reuse the outers).

For me I know that I'll have saved at least a 1000 nappies from landfill. When we have in desperation used a disposible we have tried to make sure it's a eco friendly one. I'll have saved over £150 and I'll have given Fizz's skin the best it can be clothed in. I'm even contacting local hospitals this month to see who stocks cloth and if they could maybe think about supllying new mums with fluff!

So how are you finding your cloth adventure?

Early Rider Lite - £89.99.  Always a favourite of ours.  Early Rider Bikes have given our children hours of entertainment!  Outstanding quality and great value.

Royal Bengal Tiger - £18.00.  Hand crocheted knitted toys from Bangladesh.  This beautiful tiger would make a lovely gift.

Wooden Shopping Trolley Now only £34.99.  Definitely one of our favourite toys, a strong and sturdy wooden trolley with rubber wheels that won't scratch your floor and adjustable handlebar height.  Young children just love to fill up their trolley and push and push it around the house.

Plan Toys Musical Band - £34.95.  Cover your ears!  Two drums, a symbol and a guiro, all sorts of tunes and noises can be made.

Green Baby Stripe Pyjamas - £20.00.  Pyjamas are always a favourite Christmas prezzy and all ours are soft and snuggly organic cotton.

Quentin @ 12 months Old

Our little boy Quentin has recently turned one. A huge milestone in his life so far.
I look back on our first 12 months with wonder. So much has happened!

He is now the proud owner of 12 pearly white teeth. He is happily crawling & cruising. He is both adventurous and daring. He Babbles away endlessly and happily eats whatever food we offer and has even started using his own fork & spoon.

So Tots Bots Easyfit Nappies are now available in retail goliath Tesco!   Babi Pur have made the decision to match Tesco's price of £14.99 with immediate effect.  So you can still get low prices and great service and a range of other helpful products, nappy brands all in the same place.  We know we can't beat Tesco for convenience but we can offer other things

What do we think of the whole Tesco thing?  Well the simple fact is this can only be good for re-usable nappies and the industry as a whole.  The more accessible and readily available cloth nappies are the more people will find out about them and use them.  There is still a place for small high street and online retailers who can offer a wider choice and give quality advice and service.

We have to say it is a shame that Tesco have predictably used their buying power to employ their usual tactic of pile 'em high sell 'em cheap and dropped the price to £14.99.   There is no doubt that this will effect small retailers and nappy advisors who can't do the same but offer such a good service that comes from months of experience.

Tots Bots Easyfit and Teenyfit are great nappies especially for cloth novices, no poppering, it's an all in one and  it does the job well.   But would someone pleeeeeeeeease tell Tesco not to put security tags through the waterproof outer fabric ! ! !   * rolls eyes*

Organic and Fairtrade clothes for babies and young children from Piccalilly.  Lots of us buy clothes for the special little people in our life at Christmas so we thought we'd give you a few ideas from one of our favourite companies, Piccalilly.  Piccalilly make some of the best quality clothes we have ever used!  Wash, wear, wash, wear they just stay looking like new!  Must be something to do with all those organic and Fairtrade certified cotton fibres.

From the top, we just love the Piccalilly dressing gowns for children.  A really lovely and luxurious, they are beyond the softest most snuggly things ever, if only they made adult sizes! !  Cowboy playsuit looks very cool, the bright red feet are especially cute.  Bib and burb sets are a great idea and made a great gift, a bib to keep baby's clothes clean and a matching burp cloth to throw over your shoulder when you're erm  . . burping.  The little spotty sets come in blue or pink spots and have been a best selling newborn gift in our high street shop, it's easy to see why when you see a baby dressed in one.  Pick and mix leggings are lovely and soft so kids can play freely and happily but we love the bright stripes too, there's loads of different outfits to make in the pick and mix range, green, pink, vests, leggings, trousers and more.  Last but not least the spotty blue playsuit, there's a girls version as well!

We got a new 2.5 tog sleeping bag as the weather is getting colder and our little boy refuses to keep a cover over him. The zip starts from the top and goes down, which pleases me as he then can't chew on the zipper. He's had a few nights in it now and slept soundly through them all - and hopefully many more to come!
