Travelling with Solid Toiletries – A Game Changer!

Alex on her travels in Italy wearing a Duns Citrus Black Flutter Sleeve Dress.

Hi, I’m Alex, and I’ve been a Babipur customer since 2019! Although I buy all kinds of amazing goodies for my twin toddlers from Babipur, it’s also great when it comes to things for me, especially travel essentials!

I travel a lot for work, and am regularly heading off overseas on short trips of just a day or two. Most of the time, I only travel with hand luggage, which means I have to fit all my toiletries for the trip in one small bag. Over the years I have tried and tested lots of fantastic solid toiletries from Babipur, but I definitely have my favourites and they always come on my travels with me.

Travel hack – travel with solid toiletries

Solid toiletries are fantastic for a few reasons – they are usually very planet friendly as they’re almost always plastic free, and they usually contain far fewer chemicals than the liquid toiletries you find on the supermarket shelves. Another huge bonus is that they are brilliant for travelling with!

Travelling with solid toiletries means that you aren’t ever at risk of your shampoo bursting and leaking all over everything in your case, which is a game changer. Even better is the fact that you can take all of your toiletry essentials through airport security in your hand luggage without having to take them out to go through the scanner as there aren’t any liquids!

I took exclusively solid toiletries from Babipur with me on my recent travels, and here’s what I thought of everything!

Shower Blocks Gel Bar – a body wash and shaving gel bar

Shower Blocks Gel Bars.

I’ve been using Shower Blocks shower gel bars for over a year at home, and they are wonderful to travel with. When you get the bar wet, the outer layer turns to a gel-like consistency, meaning that you can have a product that feels like a regular shower gel, but in bar form! The Shower Blocks bars are quite big and last me a really long time, so for travel, I carefully cut a smaller bit off the end so I don’t have to take the whole thing with me. The consistency of the bar when wet makes a perfect shaving cream too which is a bonus!

Shower Blocks 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner

I’m always a little bit wary about 2 in 1 products and how effective they really are, but WOW, this shampoo and conditioner bar is perfect. It’s small which makes it a perfect travel companion, but it does the job perfectly. I used this bar on holiday in Italy, and there was no transition period needed for my hair to get used to it, and my hair was shiny and silky soft after use – it looked great in all of my travel snaps!

Lamazuna Facial Cleanser Bar

Lamazuna Facial Cleanser bars.

The Lamazuna facial cleanser is a firm favourite and has been part of my daily skincare routine for over a year now. These bars a small which means they can easily be tucked away in a bag for travel, and they double up as really good makeup remover!

Earth Conscious Bare Bar Deodorant

I use Earth Conscious deodorant at home, but I wasn’t sure how it would stand up to the test of keeping me fresh all day in a hot country! I’m really pleased to report that it did a marvellous job, and kept me feeling much fresher than any other deodorant I’ve ever used on holiday before. At the end of every day, I was pretty hot and sticky thanks to the hot weather and all the steps I’d racked up, but I was still smelling fresh as a daisy!

Earth Conscious Moisturising Body Bar

I love the smell of this bar and it’s so easy to use! It’s a bare bar so comes with minimal packaging – just a paper wrapper and a cardboard box. It glides onto skin easily and is an amazing travel alternative to taking a cream-based moisturizer.

Ecoliving Toothpaste Tablets

I am a really big fan of toothpaste tablets, and think they are so much easier to travel with than a tube of toothpaste! Firstly, it’s a much more earth-conscious alternative, but it’s also a good space saving option. Toothpaste tablets take a little getting used to, but I’ve been taking them on trips for years now and wouldn’t go back! To use them, you simply nibble a tablet into a paste and then brush your teeth as usual.

Our Tiny Bees Hand Balm

Our Tiny Bees Lip Balm and Lavender Hand Balm.

I don’t go anywhere without my hand balm from Our Tiny Bees. It comes in a little tin which is the perfect size to keep in your bag, and it’s an amazing way of making sure my hands stay lovely and soft even when I’m out and about all day!

Our Tiny Bees Lip Balm

Our Tiny Bees make the most gorgeous lip balm and it’s become a staple part of my daily beauty routine. I actually have a few tins of this lip balm in various coat pockets and bags so I’ve always got one with me, including when I’m on the go!

Organii Cream Soap

I love the cream soap from Organii and took it with me on my trip to Italy. It smells great, does the job, and it was easy to cut a smaller bit off so I didn’t need to travel with the whole bar when I was only away for a few days!

A Slice of Green Organic Cotton Facial Pads

I took a pack of facial pads from A Slice of Green with me, and they were so handy! I used them with my cleanser to get my makeup off, and popped my Shower Blocks bars on them after use to dry out a bit. These are really versatile pads and they feel lovely on skin too.

A Slice of Green Travel Tin

A Slice of Green Travel Tin.

If you are travelling with solid toiletries, then this is the easiest way of transporting them by far! This tin is cleverly designed with a ridged bottom which allows bars to dry out – no more soggy bottoms! It’s a surprisingly big tin too, so you can fit plenty of your travel essentials inside.
