Zero Waste Period: Bloom & Nora Cloth Period Pads

Bloom & Nora cloth period products are a branch of one of our favourite cloth nappy brands Tots Bots. Ethically made here in the UK, they come in a wide range of sizes, absorbency and fabrics to suit your needs. There is a choice of stay-dry microfibre or natural bamboo fabrics which all carry the Oeko Tex safety standard.

Inspirational Period

What inspired the Bloom & Nora range? The early American feminist Amelia Bloomer who was a fierce support and advocate of Victorian Dress Reform. The idea for bloomers came from the struggle women faced when trying to ride bicycles in long skirts. Bloom & Nora period pads were developed for a different kind of (monthly) cycle, one which should also be treated to comfort and style! With a nod to Victorian style and sophistication, the new range of prints called the Boudoir collection give a light hearted look at this era. The four new print include Amelia, Hourglass, Flirt and Eau! Which is your favourite?

Why choose reusable pads?

Do you want to control what goes next to one of the most sensitive parts of your body? If the answer is unequivocally YES, then cloth pads might just be for you. . By using only Oeko Tex certified fabrics, Bloom & Nora pads have no harmful chemicals used in any stage of their manufacturing.

Single use pads contain up to 90% plastic, including packaging and backing strips, with tampons often having a plastic applicator. These can take upwards of 500 years to degrade. Unfortunately not all of this waste resides in landfill- a considerable proportion can end up in the marine environment.

The Marine Conservation Society estimates that 8.5% of Britain’s beach litter is made up of sewage debris including disposable menstrual products.

As well as the the environmental factors, the practical benefits are great. They are fantastically absorbent, super soft and comfortable, and very economical.
