Meet the Team: Jordan
Just over ten years ago, the Babipur story began. A tiny independent business, with a spare room crammed full of ethical goodies. Two people, Jolene and Peter with a dream to make a difference. Fast forward a few years and Babipur has grown from strength to strength surrounded by an amazing community of like minded folks, looking to be more conscious consumers. Over the past ten years as Babipur has grown, so has its amazing and dedicated Team. Peter and Jolene believe strongly in creating jobs for local people in Wales and equally, providing flexible working opportunity where it is most needed, is very important to them.
To celebrate all the hard work and contribution that each member of Team Babipur make, we will be sharing a little bit about one person a month. Up this month is our lovely Jordan…over to you!!
Hello My name is Jordan and I’m the Operations & Development Manager here at Babi Pur in charge of the daily operations of the business.
I have worked at Babi Pur for just over two years but had a break in between to explore other opportunities, I soon realised the grass wasn’t greener on the other side and now happy to be back at Babi Pur.
I’m married to Gwawr who is a Nurse and we’ve been together Since our Teens (17 years) and Married for 6. We have two beautiful children, Erin Angharad….. she’ll be turning 14 next week (eeek) and our son Osian Elis who’s 11. We are a Welsh speaking family and feel really lucky to live here in Porthmadog by the sea.
1. What made you choose to work at Babipur?
Having the opportunity to work for my big Sister Jolene and my brother in law Pete this was a perfect opportunity to get involved in the development and the rapid growth of the company and being able to utilize my Management experience within this brilliant company.
2. Do you have any animals at home?
We have a 7-year-old Cocker Spaniel crossed with a Bichon Frise (Cockerchon) called Sali, and also a Border Terrier who is 10 weeks’ old called Besi who is currently a nightmare!
3. What are your hobbies?
I love listening to music and collect vinyl’s where I’m often visiting local record shops and browsing online auction sites. Living in the heart of Snowdonia we love the Outdoors where we often go out for walks and camping during the summer months.
4. What is your guilty pleasure?
Gin, Gin & More Gin (Say no More)! Also I used to have a crush on Cilla Black…. ‘Surprise Surprise’ Haahahah!
5. What is your favourite band or genre of music?
I’m into all different kind of music from Soul to anything current. I’m currently enjoying listening to Otis Redding, Carla Thomas, Etta James and Aretha Franklin but my all-time favorite Band is Bon Jovi!
6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
We do often travel mainly in Europe but I would love to visit New Zealand one day, we do have friends over there who hopefully will get married one day….. this would be the perfect excuse.
7. What is the best thing about working at Babipur?
This one ticks a lot of Boxes for me. In my previous roles I have been working across the country, Dublin for many years and recently up North which meant I was living out of a suitcase for most of the week and away from my family where now I’m five minutes away, working for great bosses and managing a fantastic and hardworking bunch of people!
8. Is flexible working important to you?
In any working environment I believe flexible working is important, although my children are grown up if we hadn’t of had the opportunity of working flexibility both us wouldn’t have been able to work full time in the past, hence why I think it’s important and it also encourages working parents to get into employment.
9. What are your top 3 films of all time?
Has to be the 80’s….. The Goonies, Karate Kid….. Back to the Future, Indiana Jones and Ghostbuster
10. What is the best thing about Wales?
Lovely Scenery, Big Mountains, Lovely Beaches…… The Welsh language and culture :o)
11. What is your best tip for going green?
We have always been Green by basic recycling, but since working at Babi Pur I have been inspired and it has opened my eyes to how important it is to contribute towards waste reduction.
My tip is think… think of where our waste goes and what impact it will have on our future generations.
Huge thanks to Jordan for everything he does, and for sharing a little bit about himself with us all xx
