Meet Team Babipur – Llinos

Just over ten years ago, the Babipur story began. A tiny independent business, with a spare room crammed full of ethical goodies. Two people, Jolene and Peter with a dream to make a difference. Fast forward a few years and Babipur has grown from strength to strength surrounded by an amazing community of like minded folks, looking to be more conscious consumers. Over the past ten years as Babipur has grown, so has its amazing and dedicated Team. Peter and Jolene believe strongly in creating jobs for local people in Wales and equally, providing flexible working opportunity where it is most needed, is very important to them.

To celebrate all the hard work and contribution that each member of Team Babipur make, we will be sharing a little bit about one person a month. Up this month is our lovely Llinos who has worked at Babipur as Head of Customer Care for almost four years and is a very valuable member of our team…Over to you Llinos!

1. What made you choose to work at Babipur?

The opportunity to be part of a company with a great ethos was too good to miss. Working at Babipur was also a great chance for me to expand my knowledge and learn new skills, and to be in a unique position to grow with the company, which is awesome.

2. Do you have any animals at home?

Yes, our wonderful doggo, Bobi Jên. She’s a 1 year old Basset Hound x Cocker Spaniel and is the greatest furry creature on 4 legs the world has ever seen. She smells like warm corn flakes (seriously), is often mistaken for a big dachshund and absolutely loves socks. She also has her very own Instagram account – @bobi.jen

3. What are your hobbies?

Not gonna lie, I’m very much a chilled out kinda person, who loves movies, but I also really enjoy cooking. I really love spending my afternoons cooking up a big meal, even if it’s just for the two of us. Be it a big roast or a curry from scratch with all the sides. Just don’t talk to me about the washing up afterwards!

4. What is your guilty pleasure?

The Kardashians… need I say more?

5. What is your favourite band or genre of music?

Oh this is a toughie as my music taste is quite varied, you might be surprised at some of the stocks that might follow each other if you were to put my music catalog on shuffle!

I love a good singalong, so all kinds of pop, new and old, is great for that… I also find System of a Down to be a good singalong band too. There are a few bands that stuck around from my emo days that I still enjoy listening to (take the term “emo” with a pinch of salt, it was quite a poor attempt in all honesty). I love Bastille and Mumford and Sons, and who doesn’t love a bit of the Foo Fighters?

6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I’d love to go dog sledging, so anywhere that allows me to do that. And I’ve always wanted to go to San Francisco. I’d be nice to go to New York again too.

7. What is the best thing about working at Babipur?

I’ve learnt so much since working at Babipur. I’ve learnt so much more about Eco Living than I would have otherwise, which has lead to conscious changes to my lifestyle, My colleagues are pretty awesome too.

8. What are your top 3 films of all time?

1. The Harry Potter Series. As this is one big story it can count as one, right? We’ll just forget about the iffy bits like film 6 and the end of 7.2.
2. Mrs Doubtfire.

3. Miracle on 34th Street (1994 version, not original)

9. What is the best thing about Wales?

The scenery, the rich history and traditions, our language and culture… it’s home and I’m incredibly proud of that.

But most importantly: Welsh cakes.

10. What is your best tip for going green?

In the last couple of years I’ve noticed that an immense amount of household waste comes from food, so think about your food consumption. We meal plan so we buy just what we need. It means we have less left overs but will always find way to use up any left overs we do have. We’ll write a shopping from there so we buy less, which is kinder on our bank balance and reduces our waste. Oh, and don’t forget your reusable shopping bags!

Using soap bars and reusable drinks bottles are great first steps too, but check out our great blog on 10 ways to reduce your waste.

Just in case you were in any doubt about how to pronounce Babipur or Llinos here she is to help you with a little Welsh lesson!

Thanks to Llinos for sharing x
