Babipur STEM: Christmas Challenge

We thought this fortnight you could get into the festive spirit with some open ended Christmassy STEM!
Feel free to combine this with the other Babipur Challenges or the Mandala challenge and embrace all things Christmas.
This will be the last STEM challenge of the year so we’ve kept it nice and open for you to interpret however you like!
STEMspiration
We had a quiet moment of mindfulness this morning and made a beautiful snowflake mandala with the Grapat loose parts.
We think winding down activities like mandala making will be perfect to keep little ones calm in all the festive excitement!
Don’t forget to add the #babipurMandala tag on to your entries too for a double challenge entry!
We’ve also had lot of fun decorating our Namaste tree with Grapat rings in counting and colour matching session. It turns out “things onto things” is still a big hit here and great for fine motor skills for little ones too!
Instead of Elf on Shelf we’ve got a house full of rogue Nins who have been causing all sorts of festive related shenanigans. Follow the #ninsonabinge tag if you’re looking for some lighthearted fun. We’ve got lots more planned posts to follow on this one and we’re sure we can learn a thing or two from them!
We’re off to try and build Santa’s sleigh with blocks and see if we can try and make Gemma’s reindeer!
We’re also looking forward to doing some Christmas themed crafts with the Okonorm paints and clay to turn into festive bunting and decorations!

All you have to do is post a picture or video on your public Instagram account or in the Babipur Hangout Group on Facebook showing you and your little ones making learning fun with STEM exploring the topic of Christmas. Use the tag #babipurSTEM so we can find your entry and on Instagram don’t forget to tag @Babipur too!
Multiple entries are encouraged and we’ll post some more STEMspiration for you over the fortnight.
The challenge will run for 2 weeks and entries will count from today up to Wednesday 19th December 2018 at 11am. Both the winner and the next challenge will be announced later that day.
What’s the prize?
There are 2 prizes this time round. We’re giving away a set of either the Cool Nins and Warm Nins to the two best entries. Limitless possibilities and great for small world play. Tactile and perfect for any age.
