Wooden Train Sets - Plan City Toys

I'm a fully grown man but I can't help wanting to play with these toy trains by Plan Toys!   There's sure to be some fighting over these fantastic new trains sets from the Green Toy Company 'Plan Toys'.   Plan Toys city range has always been popular and the new wooden train sets are designed to interconnect with the Plan City road system with level crossings and bridges galore.   This means that Dad . . Plan Toys Baby Car

Plan Creations Co are based in Thailand and were the first manufacturer of recycled wooden toys.  PlanToys are made from old rubberwood trees which no longer produce latex and prior to PlanToys, these trees would have been burned.

PlanToys were established in 1981 and have provided good jobs to  more than 1200 people in  and around the village of Trang in Thailand.  Sustainable environmental practices and social responsibility come before profit.  All the toys are produced in factories owned by PlanToys which means they can control the quality and safety of the toys as well as the wellbeing of the workers.

The best thing about Plan Toys is the toys themselves, they are just so much fun.  Quality well made wooden toys designed to stimulate a childs imagination and creativity.  So captivating that even mums and dads get hooked playing with them.  One of our favourites is the little wooden caterpillar than magically changes into a butterfly.  Dads favourite has to be the fire engine with its extendable ladder mounted on a rotating turrent. . . fire crew to the rescue!

Here at BabiPur we're very proud to be stocking the fabulous sports balls by FairDeal Trading.  We love the mini 'fun sized' Fairtrade footballs!  The size makes them ideal for little children to practice their skills.  All the balls are ethically manufactured using Fairtrade & FSC certified materials and bear the Fairtrade logo.  They are hand stiched and made to a very high standard.

In the 2009 New Years Honours List, Mrs Samantha Morshed, Founder of Hathay Bunano p.s. (HBPS), has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire), for her services to the rural poor and disadvantaged women of Bangladesh.

HBPS was started in 2005 with the aim of creating employment for the rural poor women of Bangladesh  that is fairly paid, good quality, flexible and local.   To create employment  that fits in with the women’s lives and prevents the need for economic migration and family separation.

HBPS works on the principle that mothers and babies should be together and that all mothers should be afforded the dignity to be able to adequately provide for their children.  That every adult should have the right to a good job and a decent home and that it is our responsibility as a society to enable this.

Samantha Morshed started HBPS by teaching a small group of women how to knit by hand and then finding an export market for those products.  HBPS now creates work for almost 3,500 artisans in 32 rural production centres all over Bangladesh and is continuing to expand rapidly through market demand.   The products are exported over much of the world to USA, UK, Australia, Scandinavia, Middle East and Europe.

Samantha Morshed is a British woman married to Golam Morshed, Chairman of HBPS, and Bangladesh is now her adopted home.  ‘Bangladesh is a beautiful country full of great potential.  It is a country rich in manpower who are waiting for the opportunity for good quality work.   Coming here five years ago, I felt that I had skills and abilities that could be put to good use to make the lives of some Bangladeshis a little better.   Five years on, we still have a huge amount of work to do but we have proved that it is possible and that is the greatest hurdle.’  Samantha Morshed said.

HBPS produces a whole range of hand knitted childrenswear and childrens products and these are also sold in Dhaka at Insignia on the Lobby Level of the Westin Hotel.

Imajo is a importer of hand made rag dolls from Sri Lanka and has now teamed up with Babi Pur selling these beautiful dolls online.  Rosanne pictured here has starred in a recent commercial for Harveys furniture at the start of Coronation Street.  Each doll is Hand made using locally sourced materials supporting the local community in as many ways as possible.  The factory they are made in operates Fair Trade standards and principles.

A bike with no pedals?  It didn’t make much sense to me when my husband first mentioned these kid’s bikes which have no pedals or stabilisers yet are designed for children as young as 20 months.   The first thing I noticed was how ‘cool’ they look with the flame detailing on the wooden frame and the chunky wheels.  The reason they have no pedals is so that children can concentrate on learning to balance first.  Then they can learn to steer and stop with confidence.  The ‘Early Rider’  has ‘restricted steering’ to prevent children from over turning and falling over, once they have built their confidence it can then be changed to the ‘unrestricted steering’ setting. 

Lite Series – Pre 2-4 years

Weighing just 3.25 kg this is a great little bike which is suitable from 20 months will give your young child confidence and independence and help develop their balance and motor skills.

Our daughters have been playing with their Early Rider bikes for a couple of weeks now and have already mastered balancing skills.  Isabelle (22months) is a little short for her ‘Lite’ bike and can only use it when she has shoes!  Harriet(3) has the ‘Classic’ and is really getting the hang of it.  These bikes attract lots of attention when we go out with the girls and people are always commenting on how beautifully made they are.  The quality and attention to detail really does show in these bikes.
